Terms of Use
The short version
Demystif explains medical billing paperwork in plain English so you can ask better questions. It is educational — it is not advice from a lawyer, a doctor, an insurance broker, or a billing advocate, and it can be wrong.
The preview is free. The full report is a one-time $12 purchase, sold by Lemon Squeezy as our Merchant of Record, and it stays available for 30 days. No subscription, no account required.
What Demystif is
You paste the text of a bill, an Explanation of Benefits, or a denial letter. Software reads it and gives you back: a plain-English summary, each charge explained, anything that looks worth questioning, and wording you can use on the phone with the hospital or your insurer.
That is the whole service. We do not contact your provider or your insurer for you, we do not negotiate, we do not file appeals, and we do not represent you.
What Demystif is not
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, insurance, or tax advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship between you and us. Decisions about paying, disputing, appealing, or ignoring a bill are yours. If the money at stake matters to you, talk to a professional — a patient advocate, an attorney, or your state insurance regulator.
The explanations are produced by an AI model reading the text you pasted. It can misread a line, miss something, or flag something that turns out to be correct. Always check against your own paperwork and confirm with your provider or insurer before you act. We do not promise that you will find an error or save any amount of money.
We describe medical codes in our own words. We do not reproduce the official code descriptions published by the American Medical Association, so our wording will not match your bill word for word by design.
Who may use it
- You must be 18 or older to use Demystif. Demystif is for adults: we do not offer it to anyone under 18, and our Privacy Policy says the same. We do not ask or check your age — this is the rule, not a verification.
- Paste documents that are yours, or that you are allowed to share — for example a family member's bill you help manage, including the bill of a child in your care. The age rule above is about who uses Demystif, not about whose bill it is. Do not paste someone else's medical paperwork without their permission, or without the authority to handle it for them.
- Do not use the free tier in bulk or with automated tools, and do not try to get around the rate limit or the anti-bot check. The free tier allows a handful of analyses per hour per network.
- Do not attempt to break, probe, or overload the service, and do not resell or republish our output as your own product.
We may block access that breaks these rules. If you think that happened to you by mistake, write to [email protected].
The free preview and the paid report
The preview is free and shows the summary, the total we could read, the first couple of charges explained, and how many red flags we found. The full report — every charge, why each flag is a flag, and the questions to ask — costs $12, once, for that one analysis. There is no subscription and nothing recurring.
Delivery is immediate and digital: the report unlocks on the analysis page as soon as the payment is confirmed, and we also email it to you if you gave us an address. Keep the link private — anyone who has it can read the report.
The report stays available for 30 days from the moment the analysis was created, and then we delete it, as our Privacy Policy describes. Save or print it before then; we cannot bring a deleted analysis back.
Who sells you the report: Lemon Squeezy
Payments run through Lemon Squeezy, acting as our Merchant of Record. That means Lemon Squeezy — not Demystif — is the seller of record for your purchase. They take the payment on their own checkout page, calculate and remit any sales tax that applies where you live, and issue your receipt.
Two practical consequences. First, your card statement will show Lemon Squeezy, not Demystif; if you do not recognize the charge, that is why. Second, the purchase is also covered by Lemon Squeezy's own terms and refund policy, in addition to these terms.
Your card number never reaches our servers. We learn only that an order was paid, plus the order reference and the amount.
Refunds
The report is delivered the moment you pay, so there is nothing to return. Still, we would rather refund you than keep money you feel you did not get value for. Write to [email protected], tell us what happened, and we will ask Lemon Squeezy to refund the purchase. Cases we refund without arguing: the report never arrived, the report is empty or unreadable, or you were charged twice.
Refunds are issued by Lemon Squeezy to the original payment method, and their timing is theirs, not ours. Where the law where you live gives you a stronger refund right, that law wins over this section.
Who owns what
Your document stays yours. The analysis we produce from it is yours to use, save, print, and show to your provider, your insurer, or your lawyer. The site itself — the code, the design, the glossary we wrote — is ours, and we license none of it to you beyond using the service as intended.
Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is, with no promise of being available at any particular moment. We may change how it works, change the price, or take it offline. If we change these terms we will update the date at the top; changes are not retroactive to a purchase you have already made.
Limits of our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything related to Demystif is limited to what you actually paid us for the analysis in question — that is, $12 for a paid report, or nothing for a free preview. We are not responsible for what you decide to do with a bill after reading our explanation. Nothing here limits rights that the law where you live says cannot be limited.
Governing law
Demystif is operated from Brazil, and Brazilian law governs these terms, with the courts of Brazil as the venue. This does not take away the mandatory consumer protections of the place where you live — if your local law gives you a right you cannot waive, you keep it.
